Website dedicated to Bantu languages.

The Bantu languages constitute one of the largest linguistic groups in the world. They are spoken by more than 350 million speakers across sub-Saharan Africa, from Cameroon and Kenya to the southern regions.
The term Bantu was not coined by the German linguist Wilhelm Bleek. He simply took the word meaning ‘people’ in most of these languages to designate the group in question. For the record, he had initially opted for the prefix ‘ba’ on its own (the 'Ba' languages).
